Controversial church leader Shepherd Bushiri has taken to Facebook to issue a statement following him and his wife’s earlier release from Malawian custody.
In the post, Bushiri explains that they were released following an “illegal arrest.”
“In his ruling, the magistrate ordered that my wife and I be released unconditionally because our arrest was illegal.
“Further, the magistrate also ruled that whenever they have a case against my wife and I, we should appear before Court through summons not arrest,” he wrote in the statement.
Bushiri then goes on to explain that he has heard that his assets have been seized by authorities here in South Africa.
He, however, doesn’t seem bothered by the news, saying that his life is more important than the money he has lost.
“I am also informed that some of my assets in South Africa have been confiscated by authorities, to which I say: My right to life is more important than any asset in this world.”
Bushiri rounds off the statement by giving credit to God for their escape from the law.
“Whatever has happened today, I don’t see it as our victory, neither our lawyers. God has won. Tomorrow is better than today!”
